An architectonic set design for this production was a tribute to the art from 60’s especially the artist like Stanley Kubrick and James Turrell. My goal was to create a space able to follow the life story of Felice – an experienced actress who during the war suffered from unrequited love for a college – a famous actor. Her story is more a journey into her memory and her feelings. She began to spin a story in a plane, 20 years later, during her travel to Paris. The play is more a monolog from inside of women soul with a moments of reconstructions of real events. The set design is ultra-simple and minimalistic. White and round like a horizon. It is spatial and unlimited but at the same time ghostly, the sound of a painful past is coming back repeatedly. The horizontal axis of this space is opposable to the vertical line form by the two holes: one up in the ceiling and another in the ground. This two holes open a boundless void even in a metaphorical meaning: the upper oculus offer a salvation, the ground hole looks like a crater after a bomb and indicate tarnation. The between level – a space where Felice is situated – is always an endless bataille between this two spheres. She’s stocked. She can’t forget a painful past and reborn. The only way is to reexperienced it by therapeutic process.
The set design is at the same time very concrete in architectonic shape and metaphorical in a sense..
